When you think of the words “Classic JDM”, it’s hard not to imagine a Nissan Silvia attacking mountain touges or gracefully gliding down Japanese city streets. Introduced in 1989, Nissan’s S13 chassis quickly became known as the go to platform for pretty much every form of enthusiast driving. A true “do it all” coupe, the S13 was a fan favorite for drifting, circuit racing, or simple backyard modification. This craze spread its way to the USA in no time, where enthusiasts rapidly began modifying their Nissan 240SX’s to resemble the trends that were popular in Japan. The Japanese S13 always had a leg up on its United States counterpart, however, as the JDM 180SX and Silvia models came equipped with an optional factory turbocharged “SR20DET” engine, where the US market only got a naturally aspirated 2.4l powerplant. Now that these legendary imports are now legal to bring into the US, hordes of JDM S13’s have flooded stateside streets, each one bringing a unique taste of the motherland with it. This particular 1992 model year Nissan Silvia K’s is a fantastic example of a true JDM S13, and with a healthy amount of aftermarket upgrades already installed, this one could be a fantastic street or drift car right out of the box! The exterior of this Silvia is quite clean. The body is straight with no dents, dings or rust to be found. The entire car has been refinished in a matte grey finish, a unique option that makes this S13 coupe a real head turner! The previous owner made the wise choice of installing a full BN Sports body kit (front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper) which features sharp, aggressive lines that flow extremely well with the stock body. The OEM glass “Brick” headlights are in fantastic shape and really help accentuate the aggressive front end on this Silvia. The drab stock alloy wheels have been replaced with a set of period correct Volk F Zero Challenge 5 spokes. These wheels are unique and are a great contrast to the dark grey paint. The interior is extremely clean for the age of the car and is already set up perfectly for drifting or circuit racing. The OEM driver’s seat has been replaced with a fixed back Buddy Club racing seat. This seat fits quite snugly and is ideal for a driver with a size 28-30 waist. The passenger seat is original and the stock upholstery is in great shape. A stout bolt in roll cage spans the entirety of the interior, which looks great while also significantly stiffening the chassis. You may notice the infamous S13 “dash crack”, which luckily isn’t too significant, especially on a modified car. All other interior plastics are in great shape, and all buttons and switches on the dash work as expected, down to the automatic climate control. A full Pioneer sound system was installed and sounds great pumping out your favorite tunes. The bulky stock steering wheel has been replaced with a MOMO 3 spoke unit. The OEM gauge cluster is intact and displays just 156,669 original km’s. Equating to only 97k verified miles, its no surprise as to why everything on this S13 is so clean. The OEM fuel and temperature gauges are non-functional, however an Omori water temp gauge and NISMO boost gauge have been affixed atop the dash to help monitor engine vitals. Lastly, an Apexi AFC control unit helps the driver regulate air fuel ratios on the fly, to further fine tune the performance of the SR20DET engine. Speaking of SR20’s, pop the hood, turn the key, and the 2.0 turbocharged 4 banger roars to life. This engine has been lightly modified with some choice components to help increase performance and enhance the driving experience. An aftermarket front mount intercooler replaces the flimsy stock side mount unit and helps deliver healthy charges of cold air escaping the turbo. An Apexi intake and Blitz blow off valve also help the engine breathe better, and a full Blitz Nur Spec exhaust frees up the restrictive stock system and really makes this SR sing. Driving this car is a blast! The turbo spools quickly and propels this S13 to redline with no hesitation, and the intake and exhaust work in harmony to create a beautiful soundtrack to the driving experience. Shifts through the 5 speed manual transmission are direct, and power is sent to the rear wheels via an OEM limited slip differential. Suspension wise, this car is nicely kitted out and set up well for performance driving. Tein Type HA coilovers sit on all corners and give this car a lowered stance without making the ride quality too aggressive, and a Cusco front strut tower bar further increases chassis stability, making this S13 a real treat to drive in the corners. This head turning Silvia is ready for a new lease on life in the USA and is more than ready to tackle any driving condition you throw at it! These are quick sellers so get this one before it’s gone!
