Vehicle History

Description

Out of all the iconic classic sports cars that are eligible to import from Japan, 3 “halo cars” will always have a spot in every JDM enthusiast’s dream garage. Nissan’s fierce “Godzilla” GTR, Toyota’s iconic 4th generation Supra, and Mazda’s futuristic and quirky FD RX-7. While the GTR and Supra were quick to skyrocket to collector status, with sky high prices, it took a while for the RX7 to catch up. It’s safe to say that those who bought RX7’s at the beginning of their legality here in the US have made a sound investment, as prices have practically doubled over the past year alone. The timeless RX7 is a car that enthusiasts just can’t get enough of, and now that Japanese Spec examples are legal to import into the USA, the market is able to be consistently supplied with a plethora of tastefully modified, low mileage FD’s. This particular 1996 “Efini” FD3S RX7, optioned from the factory in RS trim is a facelift model equipped with an OEM Mazdaspeed body kit and plenty of other quality modifications to sweeten the deal. The exterior is finished in a beautiful coat of Mazda Chaste White, a fan favorite color for the FD3S chassis. Records from Japan indicate some paintwork done to the vehicle including a small collision repair to the front left fender and repaint work done on the body kit. A period correct Mazdaspeed GTC front bumper, side skirts, and high rise rear spoiler look incredible and give this RX7 a true JDM classic circuit racer appearance. The rear features the signature facelift RX7 circle tail lights. Complementing the body work is a perfectly spec’d set of Prodrive GC06H wheels in a matching white finish. Cusco coilovers give the chassis a slight drop to eliminate any unnecessary wheel gap while still maintaining a functional ride height. The body is in fantastic shape for the age and was clearly cared for well by the previous owner. The inside is in equally as clean condition and stands as a testament to the simplistic elegance of early 90’s sports car interiors. The factory grey suede seats are in good shape given the age, with light staining on the driver’s seat being the only visible defect. The dash is in good shape, with no cracks, bubbles, or fading to be found and all buttons and switches on the dash function as expected. The JDM specific rear seat shows some light age related wear. The factory steering wheel was replaced with a stylish MOMO Carbon wheel, a perfect complement to the interior. The interior is free of any aftermarket modification, save for a necessary Blitz boost gauge and turbo timer affixed atop the steering column. The pictures on this one really speak for themselves, this car is gorgeous. The original gauge cluster is intact and fully functional, displaying just 112,282 original KM’s (69,768 miles!) Turn the key and the 13B twin turbo engine fires right up and happily purrs at idle. The 1996 year models got a subtle power bump to 265hp from stock, and this oddball rotary has a healthy amount of get up and go. Mechanically the engine is 100% stock, save for a Blitz Nur Spec cat back exhaust to help release some of those sweet sweet braps, and an air fuel controller for the stock ECU. Driving this FD3S is as much of a treat as you’d expect. Boost comes on strong at the low RPM’s and the sequential twin turbos spool healthily throughout the powerband. RS models received their fair share of handling upgrades in the form of larger brake calipers and a Torsen LSD, and good Potenza tires ensure that this RX7 will grip the road no matter what weather conditions are thrown its way. This Chaste White FD is the definition of 90’s cool and would bring some of that same nostalgia home to your garage. Contact us today and get behind the wheel!
