Introduced in 1990, the 80 series Land Cruiser remained in production until 1998, and rightfully earned its title as one of the most bulletproof, do-it-all vehicles ever produced. Most enthusiasts can agree that the 80 Series Cruiser serves up the perfect blend of off-road durability with modern creature comforts to keep you and the whole family happy. While many USDM Land Cruisers still exist on the road today, the toils of adventure have certainly taken their toll on most examples stateside. Fortunately, the Japanese market has opened the floodgates for clean right hand drive examples to dominate US roads and trails, and this well equipped grey gargantuan is definitely a stunning example. Freshly imported from the motherland, this JDM Right Hand Drive 1992 Toyota Land Cruiser Camping Edition “VX Limited” has been outfitted with some choice off-road inspired upgrades and is ready to tackle any type of terrain! The exterior is ultra clean and certainly turns heads wherever it goes. The vehicle was refinished in Japan in a beautiful coat of Toyota Dark Bluish Gray Metallic. The paint appears to be in great shape, despite some typical light scratches and dings, and there’s no collision record on the vehicle! Off road enthusiasts or those looking to get into overlanding will be pleased to see that this Cruiser is already equipped with a lift kit, Falcon off road wheels with fresh Falken Wildpeak tires, and a chrome bull bar with two front mounted fog lights. A rear ladder and additional spare wheel give some off roading aid to the rear of the car, and “land cruiser” decals throughout the body let other motorists know exactly what they’re up against. By far the coolest part of this cruiser is the factory optioned Camping package, with trick features such as a built in drink cooler and stowable bed in the rear! The rest of the interior is clean and shows extremely well. The OEM cloth seats are trimmed in a two-tone suede and, aside from some light wear and fading, are in great condition overall. The dash suffers from the typical 80 series dash crack, which has been mended with a custom-made dash carpet, but all other dash plastics are in great shape and all buttons and switches work as expected, down to the automatic climate control. The OEM steering wheel has been replaced with a sleek leather BEE*R unit and complements the rest of the interior quite well. The gauge cluster is simple and shows just 115k verified km on the odometer (71,620 miles!). The cabin is equipped with more than enough power amenities for the average road tripper. Power windows, mirrors, door locks, and an automatic sunroof are all to be expected on a top trim SUV, but by far the coolest feature (no pun intended) in the interior is the cool box, integrated into the center console. This OEM drink cooler helps keep your beverages cool on long road trips, and even features an integrated ice maker. While we have not tested the functionality of the ice maker, it certainly makes for a neat conversation piece. The back seats are spacious, with more than enough room for three passengers and nifty storage bins under the bed offer additional space for any road trip essentials. Turn the key and the 4.2l 1HD Turbo Diesel roars to life. The 1HD-T is highly desired by Land Cruiser enthusiasts and we find it to be a much more fitting option in this chassis than the more readily available gas motor. Driving this beast is an experience in itself. The engine accelerates smoothly, delivering power to all four wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission, and unlike other lifted cars, this Land Cruiser is extremely easy to drive on highways. The vehicle cruises smooth and straight with no additional road noise despite having all terrain tires. The 4 wheel drive system is fully functional and switches in and out of high and low gear without any issues.
