Vehicle History
The NA chassis Mazda Roadster is arguably the most fun one can have on a budget, it’s incredibly easy to work on, fuel efficient AND has iconic styling to boot. If you’re into cars, it’s almost guaranteed that at one point in time you’ve wanted an MX5 Miata, driven a Miata and grinned, or at least entertained the idea of adding one to your fleet. With many North American market examples falling victim to rust and corrosion it’s become increasingly difficult to find a clean chassis stateside. This is where the Japanese market comes in. These JDM “Eunos Roadsters” tend to have lower mileage and cleaner bodies than most USDM Miatas and come with some choice JDM specific features. This particular 1991 model year “NA6” Eunos Roadster is a highly desirable and even collectible model, optioned from the factory in V Special trim with Mazda’s durable 1.6l four-cylinder powerplant and 4 Speed automatic transmission. With only 80,013 original km on the chassis (49,717 verified miles!) this limited-edition V special is certainly a rare find and will undoubtedly serve the next owner well for years to come. Finished from the factory in an iconic Neo Green (HU) over tan leather interior, this Roadster is certainly a looker with the OEM hard top and is a completely bone stock, original example. The exterior on this one is in fantastic shape for a 31-year-old vehicle and has remained largely untouched, save for some paintwork to the left front of the vehicle. The body is free of any major dents and dings and, save for some light scratches and paint peeling under the rockers, this Roadster exterior is really in fantastic shape without a speck of rust to be found. The barebones styling of the OEM interior perfectly suits this no-frills roadster and is in excellent shape. The original tan leather upholstery on the seats is in overall good shape for the age of the car. Some expected tears and cracking are present on the driver’s side seat bolstering but the leather is still soft and supple. The V Special came stock with some minor interior upgrades, with the most notable being a Nardi wood parking brake handle, shift knob (not present on automatic models) and a clean and classy matching wooden 3 spoke steering wheel. The dash is clean, with no cracking or sun fading, and all buttons and switches in the center stack work as expected, including the A/C. Finding a NA Roadster interior this original is a rare sight, and we’re sure the next owner will appreciate the condition of this one. The 1.6l 4-cylinder powerplant fires right up and idles smoothly. You wouldn’t expect 113 hp to be so exhilarating, but in this lightweight chassis, it’s a suitable amount. The motor is free of any and all unnecessary aftermarket modification. In mechanically stock form, this car is a real treat. Take all the fun of a Miata, throw the steering wheel on the right, and you have a recipe for some serious driving pleasure. The motor revs happily throughout the rev range with no hiccups or hesitations. The 4-speed automatic transmission takes to performance driving surprisingly well, and is a great option for those looking to daily this roadster or take it on long road trips! This car makes quick work of backroad twists and turns. Japanese Spec Miata’s in this condition are a rare find on US shores, and a collection ready example such as this is one that shouldn’t be ignored. Get behind the wheel of this Roadster and experience how less is more when it comes to minimalist driving enthusiasm.
