Compression-Tested Camry 2GR-FE Engine – 3.5L V6

If your Camry V6 has failed, this compression-tested Camry 2GR-FE engine is a direct long-block replacement. Toyota built the 3.5L 2GR-FE for the 2007–2017 Camry V6 and shared it with many other models, as Wikipedia’s Toyota GR engine overview explains. About This Camry 2GR-FE Engine

This engine carries serial 2GR 0576846 and shows about 60,000 miles. Like every 2GR-FE, it’s an aluminum DOHC V6 with dual VVT-i and a timing chain, so it needs no belt service. In the Camry, it makes roughly 268 hp. Finally, it comes with a 90-day warranty.

How to Install a Camry 2GR-FE Engine

1. First, move your intake manifold, sensors and wiring harness from the original engine.
2. Next, transfer the alternator, A/C compressor and accessory brackets as needed.
3. Then, check the VVT-i oil line. Early engines used a rubber line that can burst, so swap in the later all-metal line.
4. After that, replace the water pump, thermostat, spark plugs and belt while access is easy.
5. Finally, prime the oil system, bleed the cooling system and scan for codes after the first start.

Most importantly, keep your original engine until the swap is done, so your installer can compare parts side by side.
