Some of the most popular vehicles in the US are Toyota 4Runners, but the 4runner is just a USDM wash version of the JDM Hilux Surf. This particular 1997 Toyota Hilux Surf SSR-G V6 is a prime example of that. On the exterior, original Silver Pearl paint shines very nicely, and only has a few rock chips along the front end. The Wheels are also in pretty solid condition, with 16 inch OEM alloys and 275mm Bridgestone tires wrapped around them with plenty of life left. This particular Surf is optioned with some nice extras as well, like the power rear mirror which still functions, and some high quality running boards that add to the usability of the large SUV. Around back, the spare tire cover in the rear shows a little bit of shrinking on the external protective seal, however this should not cause any issues as it is only there to protect the spare tire inside. Underneath the body, some spots of surface rust are present which is common in vehicles this age, however they are not into the subframe, and should be no issue. On the inside we see high quality suitable to what is seen on the exterior as well. The Blue cloth seats have stood the test of time fantastically, and the color matches the interior trim very well. The Bolster is still intact, and the seats are very comfortable. All powered features still function without hitch, including but not limited to; all power windows, power rear dropdown mirror, Heating and A/C, and all relevant controls. This Surf also has a few neat features that makes it unique, featuring Damper stiffness selection, and an altimeter along the roofline! The Sunroof up top still functions perfectly with no leaks. A pioneer FE-P530MD head unit and a pair of small DDDRive speakers are the only interior modifications on this vehicle. The only negative point on this particular Hilux’ score sheet is a minor tear on the carpeted rear trunk area. What makes this Hilux Surf unique is its powertrain. This is an SSR-G model, and this particular one has an uncommon 3400 four cam 24. This 3.4L V6 5VZ-FE has plenty of power to tackle any adventure, on road or off. The selectable 4WD adds to the capability of this renowned workhorse, especially with the optioned (and highly desirable) Center Locking Differential. Sitting at 158,210 verified kilometers (98,307 miles) this Hilux has plenty of life left in it. To add to the life in this vehicle, the belt was changed at 95,099km. The only modifications to note on this example is a Suxon exhaust with a silencer that produces a nice tone over stock, and a Cyclone 2 Power air filter inside the factory Toyota airbox. Overall this Hilux is a tastefully modified example with plenty of life left to give, and it is Turnkey and ready to take on any of the adventures you’re prepared to throw at it!
