Up for sale is this one of a kind example of the legendary Nissan S13! Introduced in 1989, Nissan’s S chassis is internationally known as the go-to platform for drifting. It’s perfect weight distribution, front engine rear-wheel-drive layout and light curb weight made the S13 easy to drive and even easier to slide around. While the USA received the S13 in a naturally aspirated 2.4l configuration, the Japanese domestic market received a few more exciting engine options, namely the 1.8l turbocharged CA18DET, and the legendary SR20DET “redtop”. Because of the car’s popularity in motorsports, aftermarket companies were pumping out boatloads of performance parts for these vehicles. It got to a point where it was nearly impossible to find a stock example of these cars, everyone that owned one wanted in on the aftermarket parts craze. Body kits, spoilers, and of course a wide variety of engine upgrades flooded the Japanese import scene, with the S13 being the poster child for some of the latest and greatest innovations in aftermarket parts design. While many modified S13’s fell victim to abuse and cheap modification, especially in the USA, some examples, such as this one, appear to have withstood the test of time, and make excellent driver’s cars or even collector’s items today! This particular 180SX hatchback is an S13 done right. Take one look at this car, and your eyes are immediately drawn to the aggressive, yet well crafted Car Modify Wonder Glare Body Kit. That’s a mouthful. This S13 features the whole kit, including the front bumper, fenders, side skirts, rear over fenders, and rear bumper. A carbon fiber hood, equipped with Aerocatch hood pins, has been installed and compliments the rest of the kit quite nicely. The body, originally black, was resprayed in OEM Nissan Midnight purple (LP2). We could go on and on about how this is the best looking S13 we’ve ever seen, but we think the pictures speak for themselves. The rear of the car is accentuated thanks to a set of Kouki tail lights and custom center garnish. A set of 17”Bronze Work CRKai wheels completes the classic silhouette, wrapped in a set of 255/40 Toyo Proxes tires, this meaty fitment compliments the widebody kit to a t. Open the door, and you might be surprised that the interior isn’t nearly as modified as the exterior. All OEM plastics and fabrics are in excellent shape. The dash is free of any cracking or sun fading, two things the S13 is extremely prone to. The driver’s seat has been replaced with a fixed-back Bride Low Max. While narrow, it should fit those with a size 30-32 waist quite well. The climate control is fully functional, and a Kenwood double DIN headunit replaces the outdated OEM one. While the original digital gauge cluster with heads up display is still in the vehicle, the digital speedometer appears to have burnt out. To mend that issue, a digital Pivot Racing speed meter has been installed. A large Defi BF series tachometer replaces the dull OEM unit and functions as expected. All other gauges on the OEM cluster are functional, and the odometer displays an original 125,358 km’s (77,893 miles!). Pop the carbon fiber hood and you’re greeted with an absolute beauty of a red top SR20DET. This SR20DET has been extensively modified with quality parts, and is set up at a perfect power level for street driving. The turbo, while stock, spools nicely thanks to an HKS intake system and Greddy front mount intercooler. The top end of the engine has been fitted with JUN racing cams and an aftermarket header, paired to a GP sports EXAS exhaust this SR20 sounds incredible! The oiling and cooling systems have been gone through thoroughly. Billion radiator hoses and a Billion swirl pot helps with maintaining a proper engine temperature, and an aftermarket catch can takes care of any oil blowby issues this SR20 may encounter. The entire engine setup is tuned on a Greddy Emanage piggyback ECU and runs smoothly with no interference or issues. The vehicle suspension and drivetrain has been tuned to make this car powerful in the back roads, or even on a drifting circuit. Tein coilovers keep this S13 planted in the corners, and the rear end has been swapped to a NISMO 2 Way LSD. Shifts through the 5 speed transmission are smooth and direct thanks to an aftermarket short throw shifter and upgraded clutch. If you’re looking for a well sorted S13 that’s the epitome of “JDM”, this Right Hand Drive 180sx is a mint condition example sure to turn heads for years to come!
