Vehicle History
1993 Eunos Roadster S-Special: 5-Speed, Hardtop, 4B Grade
A clean, low-mileage NA Miata is hard enough to find. One with a manual gearbox, a removable hardtop, a strong auction grade, and a set of quality JDM upgrades is rarer still. This 1993 Eunos Roadster S-Special has all of that. It’s the Japanese-market version of the first-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata, with the 1.8L engine, a 5-speed manual, and right-hand drive. In addition, it has covered only 36,150 miles in more than 30 years, and it comes with a US title.
The 5-Speed Manual: Miata the Way It Was Meant to Be
The NA Miata’s short-throw 5-speed is one of the best manual gearboxes ever put in an affordable sports car. It’s light, precise and mechanical, and it’s a big reason these cars are so much fun to drive. In fact, many buyers won’t consider an automatic at all. Paired with the Recaro seats and MOMO steering wheel, this car delivers the connected, hands-on driving experience the Miata is famous for.
Removable Hardtop Included
Most NA Miatas are sold with only a soft top, and finding a good hardtop separately can be a hunt. This car comes with one. With the hardtop on, it becomes a snug, quieter coupe for winter and long highway trips. Then, when the weather warms up, take it off and enjoy open-top driving with the soft top. As a result, you get year-round usability straight away.
4B Japanese Auction Grade
Japanese auction inspectors grade every car on a strict scale. An overall grade of 4 means very good condition with only minor, age-appropriate marks. Meanwhile, an interior grade of B means a clean, well-kept cabin. For a 1993 car, 4B is an excellent result, and it shows this Eunos was looked after by its private owner. The auction sheet is included in the photos.
Tasteful JDM Upgrades
Its previous owner improved the handling, sound and feel with well-known Japanese brands, while keeping the car clean and usable:
- Blitz coilovers for adjustable ride height and sharper handling
- Adjustable front strut bar for a stiffer front end
- Recaro seats for better support on twisty roads
- MOMO steering wheel
- 15-inch Enkei wheels
- Kakimoto Racing muffler for a sportier exhaust note
- Rear spoiler
It also keeps the everyday comforts: air conditioning, power steering and power windows. A spare tire is included too.
Only 36,150 Documented Miles
Japanese inspection and auction records for chassis NA8C-106172 show steady, consistent mileage:
- 2017: 26,770 km
- 2022: 43,262 km
- 2024: 51,600 km
- 2025: 58,174 km (36,150 miles)
That’s only about 1,100 miles a year since new. Furthermore, the history report shows private use only, with no collision, flood, fire, hail or theft records, no odometer rollback and no open recalls.
First-Year 1.8L BP-ZE Engine
Mazda introduced the 1.8L BP-ZE in late 1993, replacing the original 1.6L. Registered in November 1993, this is one of the earliest 1.8L Eunos Roadsters. It makes 130 PS (128 hp) and 116 lb-ft of torque. What’s more, the BP engine is shared with US 1994–1997 Miatas, so parts are easy to find. Learn more in the Mazda MX-5 (NA) overview.
Right-Hand Drive and Title Info
