Looks can be deceiving, and in the game of deception, this Suzuki Cappuccino is a master at its craft. This is a beautiful example of one of Japan’s most interesting and awesome kei cars. For those unaware, a Kei car is essentially a sub-subcompact car, intended for navigating the tight corners and corridors of Japan’s mountain roads and city streets. The Cappuccino is a kei car and then some thanks to its turbocharged 660cc powerplant. Add a splash of go-kart like handling and a 3-way targa top roof and you have a recipe for some serious backroad fun, whether you’re in Tokyo or Texas. The exterior of this particular Cappuccino is in great shape, and the bright red body contrasts quite nicely with the gunmetal metallic targa roof. Some paintwork has been performed to restore this Cappuccino to original condition.The exterior is stock and free of any gaudy aftermarket modification. With only 66k original kilometres, (38,000 miles!) this Cappuccino is one of the best preserved examples we’ve ever seen with a rust free body and beautiful original interior. Despite its small size, this kei car is quite roomy inside, and will comfortably seat most people 6 feet tall or under. The original leather on the seats is in great shape, with no major rips, tears or other damage. The dash is free of cracks and bubbles, and an aftermarket MOMO steering wheel greatly improves steering feel. The top comes off with ease, and has the capability of being a full targa top, or split t top! Adventurous drivers looking to use this cappuccino as an every day driver will be pleased to know that this model was optioned from the factory with AC and anti-lock brakes. Driving this car is an experience in itself. The turbocharged 660cc engine delivers wonderful amounts of down low torque and shifts through the 5 speed manual transmission are smooth and direct. The factory suspension is plenty nimble for spirited driving and this Cappuccino darts in and out of corners thanks to a set of sticky Yokohama Neova tires. A Cusco aftermarket front strut tower bar adds a splash of color to the engine bay while also increasing chassis rigidity. If you’re into quirky vehicles that are as fun to drive as they are to look at, this Cappuccino is a strong contender.
