Vehicle History

There’s something about the first-generation Subaru Impreza that is so inexplicably perfect. Maybe it’s the years of rally and circuit pedigree, the sporty yet minimalist design, or perhaps it’s the association to the legendary limited production 22B, the most famous vehicle to bear the “GC8” chassis code. It’s no surprise this car has such a cult following. While the US market received a similar Impreza, known as the 2.5RS, domestic buyers never got to enjoy a “true” GC8 WRX or STi equipped with a hard hitting 2.0 turbocharged flat-four and close ratio 5 speed manual. Now that they’re legal for import, proper first generation WRX’s have been hitting US shores by storm, giving enthusiasts the chance to own the Subaru they’ve dreamed about since the 1990’s. This 1995 model year “Version 2” WRX is one of the nicest we’ve seen, with only 54,000 verified miles on the clock, and is a fantastic example for any enthusiast interested in owning a completely stock and unmolested Impreza with a bit of RHD flair! The exterior is finished in an incredibly well-kept original coat of OEM Subaru Black Mica (47A). The body is beautiful, with no dents, dings, or rust anywhere! Those that know Subaru know about the rust issues that plague these early models, luckily this example has been extremely well maintained and the body is just as flawless as it was 27 years ago! OEM split 5 spoke alloys compliment the black paint nicely, and a few subtle exterior touches really separate this WRX from other Imprezas, namely the low-rise spoiler, OEM side and rear lip kit, and massive rally style fog lights up front. This vehicle is a total 90’s time capsule. The flawless exterior can only be accompanied by an equally as perfect interior, where nearly all interior plastics and upholstery look like they’ve hardly seen use at all. Despite the vehicle’s compact size, this Impreza has ample leg room in both the front and rear, with plenty of storage space in the trunk! Leave it to Subaru engineers to design a rally car that’s still practical for everyday use. The OEM dark grey cloth and suede seats are free of rips and tears, and the plastics show no signs of cracking, peeling or sun damage. All features and switches are fully functional, even down to the automatic climate control! Sit in the cockpit and you instantly notice the OEM three spoke Nardi steering wheel. Paired with a leather Nardi shift knob, these add a classy touch to the interior and really aid in enhancing the driving experience. The dash displays just 87,321 original kilometres (54k miles!) and is fully functional and free of any warning lights. Pop the hood and the stout 2.0 “EJ20G” flat four sits front and center. Being a 1996 model year, this WRX received a power bump from the factory from 230 to 256 hp. In a small, lightweight chassis, this was more than enough get up and go, which is why this particular engine has remained completely stock. Acceleration is quite punchy, with a solid amount of low-end torque, and the OEM dual tip exhaust projects just the slightest rumble while driving down the road. The 5-speed manual gearbox shifts smoothly with no grinds, pop outs, or slippage. The AWD system behaves as expected, diving in and out of corners without losing an ounce of traction, and the stock suspension takes bumps and turns quite nicely. We have performed a full service and complete inspection of the vehicle to ensure that it is ready to hit the road with no issues! There are truly not enough good things to say about this vehicle, if you’re looking for a practical daily driver that can attack the road during any and all conditions, this rally-ready right hand drive WRX will serve you well.
