In Japan, the 1990’s were all about “Kaizen” or continuous improvement. A major economic bubble gave businesses the power and capital to innovate new and exciting products, and no industry benefitted more from this than the automotive industry. After receiving incredible reception from the public on their R32 Skyline chassis, Nissan sought to improve upon this already legendary sport coupe by quickly introducing the revised R33 Skyline in 1994. The R33 was a massive step up in quality from the R32, as the exterior and interior were completely revamped to not only look more modern but to suit the driver’s needs better as well. The Skyline received a much-needed power bump, thanks to the addition of Nissan’s famed RB25DET 2.5l I6 engine, and redesigned aero helped improve upon some of the R32’s shortcomings on track. This particular GTS25T “Type M” trim Skyline is an excellent, near stock example of a properly spec’d R33, and with it’s low original miles, it will continue to stand as a testament to Nissan’s automotive prowess in the 1990’s. The exterior is finished in a beautiful coat of QM1 Cloud White paint. Some evidence of prior paintwork is present, but it appears to have been done quite professionally. We’ve always been a big fan of white R33’s, the color seems to accentuate the already soft and smooth body lines. The OEM 5 spoke wheels have been replaced with a set of Yokohama Advan AVS VS-5 wheels. The period-correct finish on these wheels has slightly discolored over time, but overall they are a fitting choice to complement this 90’s icon. Unlike most skylines, the rest of the exterior is completely stock and in excellent condition, with no major dents, scuffs, or gouges to the OEM bodywork. The interior is in great original condition as well. One step into the car and you instantly notice the improvements in build quality over similar 90’s Nissans. The dash is free of cracks and bubbles and the seats and other original upholstery have been cared for extremely well. The driver’s seat has been replaced with a leather-covered OEM GTR seat, an excellent replacement for the factory unit in our opinion. Other modifications to the interior include a USDM compatible radio, MOMO race steering wheel, and a Veilside Evolution shift knob. The dash displays just 111,890 unverified km’s (69,525 miles) and all dash buttons, lights, and switches are fully functional. Turn the key and the powerhouse RB25DET springs to life. The turbocharger spools with ease as the 245hp motor sings gracefully to redline. Shifts through the 5 speed RWD transmission are smooth and direct. The factory power level makes this Skyline an absolute joy to drive, despite its increased curb weight over the R32, the R33 feels extremely balanced and planted while darting its way in and out of corners. This Skyline GTS25T would be an excellent daily driver for the JDM enthusiast, or starting platform for someone looking to do a big-power RB series build!
