The Toyota Hilux Surf, also known as the Toyota 4Runner in some markets, is a mid-size SUV that has been in production since 1984. The second generation of the Toyota Hilux Surf was produced between 1989 and 1995, and it was known for its off-road capabilities and durability. The exterior of the second-generation Hilux Surf was boxy and rugged, with sharp edges and a high ground clearance. The vehicle was available in several different trims, and this particular example is an SSR-X. This particular one is in Toyota’s OEM Red looks fantastic, and has only very minor imperfections in the form of a few chips seen with typical road use. Completely stock including the OEM 15 inch wheels, and wrapped in some healthy Yokohama Geolander H/T-S tires 215mm wide, your contact point to the road is suited for years to come. The OEM running boards and Mud flaps also give a nice touch to the exterior while also offering additional utility. Inside, the second-generation Hilux Surf was spacious and functional, with a dashboard layout that was simple and easy to use. The vehicle was available with a range of features, including power windows and locks, air conditioning, and a cassette player. Considering this example is completely stock, all of these features still function flawlessly which is great to see out of one of these aged vehicles! A/C blows Cold and Heating blows hot. Rear Air controls are also a nice feature that still works as well. All of the interior trim is in incredibly good condition, with no cracking or fading see in any of the interior. The cloth seats also show virtually no signs of wear and the bolster is still completely in tact. Even the Gauge cluster is still completely functional! For the collectors of these vehicles, it even has some period correct Toyota All-Weather mats! These vehicles were offered with either a Manual or Automatic transmission, but enthusiasts had an overwhelming preference for the Manual. Thankfully, this example has that 5 speed manual transmission, and it feels excellent thanks to its notchy gears and easy to operate clutch. Mated up to a 2L-TE 2.4L Turbocharged four cylinder engine that provides more power and torque over the non Turbo variant- this Surf provides enough power to the wheels to get the job done! With only 90,429 verified kilometers on the odometer (56,189 miles!) this Hilux has got lots of life left in it!
