Toyota's X90 Chassis was internationally known in the 1990's as the do-it-all luxury sedan. Offered in a broad variety of trims in Japan, the X90 could be spotted everywhere from city streets and highways to mountain touges and race tracks. While many people associate these Mark II’s, Chasers and Crestas with the top of the line, twin turbo JZX90 Tourer V model, there are many lesser-known trim levels with equally as cool features. On paper, this 1994 Toyota Mark II “Grande” GX90 appears pretty barebones. While it may not be your first choice to take to the track, a fuel efficient 2.0 1G-FE inline 6 and cloudlike ride quality make this thing one seriously comfortable commuter! The exterior is finished in a classy champagne finish. The original paint has held up extremely well over the years, and it appears that this Mark II was pampered during its time in Japan. With only 67k verified kilometers on the clock (42k miles!) the condition is definitely justified and looks to even have been garage kept, with no signs of clear coat fade on the body at all. Unlike the more popular twin turbocharged JZX90, the GX90's are less likely to be found with exterior modifications. This Mark II is an excellent example of that as the exterior appears to have been left bone stock over the past 26 years down to the OEM polished wheels. The interior is finished in an iconic 90's brown and loaded with a surprising amount of creature comforts such as automatic climate control and power folding mirrors. The factory seats are trimmed in a supple brown cloth and are in fantastic condition, with no rips, tears or bolster wear anywhere on the factory upholstery. The dash, steering wheel, and dash hardware are finished in a matching brown and look as good as the day they came off the showroom floor. By far the most interesting interior feature would be the OEM TV and navigation unit. If you were wondering what those antennae were for on the back of the car, now you know. Optimized for Japanese frequencies, this unit is purely for show but is still fully functional and is a really fantastic conversation piece. Turn the key and the 1G-FE springs to life! A bulletproof motor with smooth power delivery and great fuel economy, we were quite surprised at how well the 1G stacks up to some of the more well known offerings in the Toyota family, and acceleration leaves little to be desired in a daily driver. Shifts are smooth through the 4 speed automatic RWD transmission and all lights and accessories work as expected. A recently replaced set of Bridgestone tires make the ride incredibly smooth and the factory suspension still has a ton of life left.
