Up for sale is a beautiful stock example of one of Toyota’s most legendary sleeper sedans! In the early 1990’s, Toyota was at the top of their game, pumping out performance cars left and right. Their flagship sport coupe, the record shattering Toyota Supra, set the benchmark for what Japanese auto manufacturers were able to produce. When Toyota saw the success of the Supra in the Japanese market, they decided to capitalize on the situation, beefing up their lineup of commuter cars with the powerhouse twin turbocharged 1JZ-GTE engine and stout R154 5 speed manual transmission. This sleeper sedan you see before you is one of those cars. Known as the JZX90, this extremely versatile sedan was internationally known in the 1990's as the do-it-all luxury sedan. Offered in a broad variety of trims in Japan, the X90 could be spotted everywhere from city streets and highways to mountain touges and race tracks. This particular example, known as the Toyota Mark II Tourer V, was the most barebones 1JZ equipped vehicle you could buy at the time. As any good car enthusiast knows, less features means more room for modification, and luckily, this is one bone stock example ready to customize as you wish. The exterior is finished in the original Super White (040) paint and is free of any clear coat fade and peeling! The body is in fantastic shape, with no dents or dings, and is one of the cleanest examples we’ve ever seen. It appears to have never been modified, down to the stock alloy wheels, which wear a good set of Bridgestone Potenza tires. The interior of this Mark II Tourer V is exceptionally clean as well. Trimmed in blue cloth, the seats are in great shape, with no rips, tears or burns. This is a non-smoker vehicle. The dash is free of any cracks and bubbles, and the faux wood trim adds a classy touch to this throwback 90’s interior. All interior features, buttons, and switches work as expected, including the automatic climate control, Air purifier, power door locks and mirrors. The gauge cluster displays only 80k unverified miles. The back seats are spacious and have more than enough room to seat three additional passengers comfortably. Turn the key and the 276hp 1JZ twin turbocharged inline 6 roars to life. Boost hits at about 3500 RPM and pulls smoothly all the way through the powerband. No modifications have been made to the engine except a Blitz 50/50 blow off valve, which produces a pleasant whoosh when you let off throttle. The R154 transmission is geared nicely for street driving and shifts smoothly through all gears with no grinds or pop outs.
