This “SW20” MR2 came equipped from the factory with a mid engine/rear wheel drive layout, which made this tiny Toyota a serious contender against even the most exotic supercars of it’s day, and it still proves to be an incredible performance bargain to this day. Power is provided by a 2.0l 4 Cylinder “3SGTE” Engine, equipped with a factory twin scroll turbocharger for quicker spool and impressive low end power. This particular 3SGTE engine has been equipped with a top of the line ARC airbox and Apexi exhaust which provides the driver with a symphony of turbo noises from the rear of the cockpit! Coupled with this car’s light weight, this 242hp 3SGTE accelerates rapidly and a 5 speed manual transmission shifts through all gears smoothly as it delivers power to the rear wheels with the help of an aftermarket clutch. If you know the SW20 MR2, you know these cars carry the bad reputation of being prone to snap-oversteer. Luckily, for this 1993 model, these issues were corrected and this car handles like a dream! With the help of Tein coilovers, Cusco front and rear strut bars, and additional chassis bracing, this car takes turns like a go-kart and dives into corners with ease! The exterior of this car is certainly a prime example of 90’s JDM style, with a host of unique modifications that make this MR2 stand out from the crowd. The tiny stock wheels have been abandoned in favor of a custom-spec’d set of forged Volk TE37’s. With 17’s in the back and 16’s in the front, both wrapped in Yokohama tires, this car has a mean stance and turns heads wherever it goes. While the paint does show signs of wear due to the car’s age, this vehicle has been well kept and is rust-free. The interior of this car is a testament to the care the previous owner had for this vehicle. A sparkleback Bride driver’s seat helps keep the driver steady through those tight turns, and an Apexi electronic boost controller lets you change maps on the fly. A trio of Apexi gauges helps you monitor Boost, Water temp, and Oil temp on the reliable 3SGTE. Overall this is a well optioned SW20 that is ready to hit the backroads and tear up the track!
